Our Project List for the Fall

We are hosting Thanksgiving! Woohoo—from me, not Andrew! Here’s my checklist of three projects to complete before the holiday season starts.

Our back entryway leading in from the garage is up first! There isn’t a closet on our first floor and we desperately need a place to hang coats. (We love our townhome, but what it lacks in closet space is made up for in windows! Unfortunately, this tiny hallway has no windows and almost no natural light.) I turned immediately to Pinterest for “small entryway solutions” and noticed a lot of peg rails in the results. I found the inspiration below, created a rough mockup and got sign-off from Andrew! I’ve already bought paint and plan on painting the peg rail and wall below a dark sage green—Retreat by Sherwin Williams!

Next on the list: our stairs. We have two straight staircases in our townhome and let me tell you… those steps are steep! I have fallen down a few steps and Andrew’s mom almost took a tumble over Labor Day. It’s time to add a runner! Alaina Kaczmarski and Danielle Moss (cofounders of The Everygirl) had super similar solutions (below) and I love the look! I am heading to Hall’s Flooring in Charlotte to check out their selection over the weekend.

Lastly, we only have six dining chairs and since it’s pretty rare that we use all of them, so we’re opting for a less expensive route: Andrew is building a dining bench! His sister gifted him four slabs of ambrosia maple for Christmas and he’s been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it! Andrew asked me to show him what I like and then he’ll figure out the design and building process. I LOVE the rounded top and angled legs on this dining bench (Amber Lewis can do no wrong in my book!!) and have handed this over to Andrew as inspiration.
